Nectarine Tart

Eating what is in season is always a treat, it is available in abundance and usually cheaper in season than imported foods. For me the year starts with deliciously bitter Seville oranges.

This time I was eyeing up summery nectarines. They were for sale by the tray at the market. I kept walking past them thinking of how I could enhance the flavor and then I decided to match them with Maple syrup, and a pinch of chilli of course.

I loved the jam and kept thinking a nectarine tarte tatin would be delicious, using the nectarine and maple syrup jam would make a great flavor base.

I had filo pastry in the fridge that needed to be used up so I changed the plan and decided to make a nectarine filo tart.

preparation time 5 minutes

cooking time 15-20 minutes

oven 180C or 350F

serves 4


  • 2 nectarines
  • 1 dl Heatonomy nectarine & maple syrup jam
  • 5 sheets of filo pastry
  • 20 gr or 0.7 oz butter, melted + butter for the pan or ovenproof dish
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

Butter the pan or oven proof dish, I used a cast iron pan.

Add the nectarine and maple jam and add the sliced, stone removed nectarines.

Place the filo sheets on top. Add the Maple syrup, the melted butter and the chia seeds.

Bake in the oven until the filo pastry is golden and the nectarines and nectarine jam is bubbling.

I served it with ginger yogurt.

This tart was so easy to make and so delicious I ate way too much. I wanted to share the recipe and it is the kind of recipe I will make and share with friends.
