Sometimes it has to be cake!

Sometimes when I read a recipe I can almost taste it and I know I have to try it. What was remarkable this time is that it was a cake. I almost never bake but as soon as I read the recpie I knew I just had to make it!

I think it makes a nice difference from all the savoury foods I make, at the moment it is a bit of canape central here. I think that for two years there were so many things we couldn’t do and there is a need to get together. I am so happy to be asked to supply canapes and the catering side of my business is ever growing.

Now, back to the cake. This cake caught my eye as I love lemons. As I kept reading the recipe I got so excited I shared it with my baking savvy friends, I love that I have a little baking community!

The name alone, Gooey Lemon Butter cake, sounds melt in your mouth doesn’t it?

I love the Butternut Bakery blog and as I was reading the recipes, thinking of what other cakes I can make, made me think that perhaps I just haven’t found the right recipes before.

I followed the recipe to a tee and you can find it here.

The cake is so rich it is almost like a pudding and it also worked a treat with raspberry jam.

I was on a bit of a cake roll and also made this chocolate pudding cake. I liked it best the day after, I think the flavors had to sit for a little while.

I helped myself to the chocolate pudding cake throughout the day but it really stood out with some chopped up peaches and cream. Sometimes it just has to be cake!

Cake has to be shared so I am taking this to the lovey Angie’s Fiesta Friday! Click here to come on over and get inspired and hang out for a while!

  2. I am sure the cakes are super delicious. But it’s those canapés that caught my eye !!! Could you kindly write a blog abuot your canapés – or are they a bit of a business secret maybe?

I am actually probably capable of making this dessert! Yay! It sounds really good, even I don’t usually eat sweets.

  5. That cake sounds delectable! I LOVE lemons, too! I must have them always in my fridge. My family jokes that if I can put lemons in everything, I would. You know what, I pretty much do 😀
